The holiday, created by the New York State Legislature in 1902, was based on Rally Day parades held by Sunday schools throughout Brooklyn since 1829. Now, public schools across New York City are closed for Chancellor’s Day, providing an opportunity for the community to enjoy free outdoor activities and a day away from school. Borough President Adams spoke about the importance of encouraging physical fitness and healthy play for young people, particularly as families prepare for summer vacation. 11 am to 4 pm.

The author of "Mermaids on Parade" visits with a vey special story time and will be reading and signing her book for all her fans. 10:30 am to 11:30 pm.

Learn to Ride is a free, instructional class for kids. With our safe, easy, effective method, Learn to Ride students learn how to balance, pedal, start, stop, and steer a bike, as well as adjust a helmet for proper fit. Most kids learn to ride in one session, but even if they don’t, they can join us for another free class! Noon to 3pm.
