Toothless crime

Someone hit and injured a man as he walked down 72nd Street on Sept. 21.

The victim, 21, was walking home from a friend’s house at around 1:45 am. As he approached Ridge Court, the suspect approached him and hit him in the mouth several times — knocking out one of the victim’s teeth — before running away.

Someone snatched jewelry from a woman as she walked on 79th Street on Sept. 24.

The 60-year-old victim told cops she was walking between 13th and 14th avenues at around 2 pm when a man ran up to her and grabbed the gold chain from around her neck. The suspect ran down the street, hopped into a white car and sped off with the $600 necklace.

Hot rocks

A brazen thief took $15,000 in jewelry from an 86th Street store on Sept. 24.

A 25-year-old sales clerk at the bauble bazaar, which is between Fourth and Fifth avenues, told police that a customer came into the store at around 6 pm and asked to see some jewelry. When the clerk removed the earrings and necklace from the glass case, the thief grabbed the jewelry and ran out.

Lock the windows!

At least three neighborhood homes were broken into last week when residents neglected to lock their basement windows.

On Sept. 22, someone climbed through an open basement window and stole more than $6,000 in jewelry and electronics from a Fort Hamilton Parkway home.

Two days later, a thief pushed open a rear basement window on a Bay Ridge Parkway home and grabbed $30 and a DVD player from inside.

And later that same day, someone burgled a 77th Street home, climbing through another open basement window and making off with $900, a camera and jewelry.
