del.icio.usA 27-year-old woman who was arguing with her boyfriend lost her purse to an opportunistic thief at the corner of Manhattan Avenue and India Street on Jan. 27.
The victim told police she was having a fight with her boyfriend as they walked down Manhattan Avenue at 1 am. She lost her temper and took a swing at him with her purse. In the course of attacking her man, she lost control of the purse and it fell to the ground, and was grabbed by the thief.
Jewelry thief
A burglar broke into a Nassau Avenue apartment building on Jan. 21 and made off with $10,000 in jewelry.
The thug kicked in the front door of the building, which is located between Kingsland Avenue and Sutton Street, ripping the deadbolt out of the frame sometime between 10 am and 2 pm.
The perp then busted down the door of an apartment belonging to a 68-year-old woman. Once inside, he stole 10 rings, four bracelets, a watch and a laptop computer.
Tool thief
A handyman lost thousands of dollars in tools when a burglar broke into his van while he was working on a North 10th Street home on Jan. 21.
The man police his van was parked between Kent and Wythe avenues from 11:15 am to 2 pm when someone broke into it.
The thief snagged a load of tools including two gas-powered nail guns, two impact screwdrivers and two battery-operated jigsaws.
Sneaker thief
Police arrested a 20-year-old man on Jan. 25 for swiping two pairs of Nikes from his neighbor the week before.
The victim, a 25-year-old Skillman Avenue man with a sneaker obsession, had his fresh shoes stolen from his home while they were still in the UPS package.
The suspect was charged with burglary after he confessed to the crime. The victim, who lives between Kingsland Avenue and Woodpoint Road, got back his sneakers, a pair of black “Dunks” and a pair of white, gray and red “Jordans” valued at $82.50 per pair.
