Car thief tussles with driver

A thief tried to get away with a man’s car in Bensonhurst on Nov. 28.

According to police, the victim left his Dodge Durango parked and running near Bay Parkway and 72 Street at 2:40 p.m. While the car was unattended, a 29-year-old man stepped in and started to drive away. 

The victim then got back inside the car and began to fight with the thief, causing the vehicle to collide into another car and a light post. 

Hallway assault

A stranger assaulted a Bensonhurst woman inside her home West 7th Street on Nov. 14. 

The police said the victim was coming home from work at around 12 p.m. when a 41-year-old man started harassing her and hit her in the back with a wooden stick. He then sprayed her with mace in the face and menaced her with a knife. 

Knife attack

A woman was attacked by a stranger near the corner of 80th Street and New Utrecht Avenue on Nov. 17. 

The 14-year-old victim was walking eastbound on 80th Street when her attacker, who was walking in the other direction, pulled out a sharp instrument and stabbed her multiple times across the body. 

Paramedics transported her to Maimonides Medical Center to be treated for her injuries. 

Phony checks

A robber stole from a 58-year old man at an ATM near 84th Street and 23rd Avenue on Nov. 14. 

According to police, the thief used a fake check with the victim’s name on it to withdraw $20,000 from his Chase checking account.

Teen victim

Someone allegedly broke into the home of a 19-year old and stole items on Oct. 31.

The victim told police the thief entered the house near West 7th Street. and Avenue O at 7:10 p.m. and grabbed jewelry and purses valued up to $252,000. The victim told cops she had left the front door unlocked.
