Dumbo car heist

Cops are looking for the culprits behind a Dumbo car heist, which took place on the morning of Jan. 24.

According to the valet at Front Street Garage, a white Range Rover with New Jersey plates entered the garage at around 6:30 a.m. when two of its passengers hopped into two customer vehicles.

Both vehicles, a 2024 BMW X7 and a 2018 Mercedes Benz GL4, were parked by the valet who left the windows down and keys inside, in line with the garage’s policy.

Cops said they are reviewing the security footage from the parking lot to identify the suspects who drove the vehicles, which have a combined value of $155,000, in an unknown direction.

Down to the copper wire

A thief stole $20,000 worth of copper wire from the construction site of a new commercial building in Dumbo on Jan. 27.

Sciame Construction reported to police that an unknown perp gained entry to the site at 29 Jay Street after cutting the lock to the front gate between 6 and 7 p.m.

The thief was caught on surveillance camera fleeing the site in a vehicle with over 2,500 feet of copper wire, but cops have yet to identify the suspect.

Mistaken identi-theif

A man intercepted the delivery of a brand new laptop to a Cobble Hill woman on Jan. 23.

The 37-year-old victim told police that the delivery person dropping off her new Apple Macbook Air was waiting outside her building at around 4:30 p.m. that afternoon.

Before the victim got downstairs to sign for her package, a man had approached the delivery driver claiming he was the recipient. The victim made it outside in time to see the thief get into a getaway vehicle, a gray Honda, on the corner of Warren street and Hoyt Street.

Man hospitalized by phone thieves

A 31-year-old man was attacked by two men as he entered a Downtown subway station on Jan. 27.

The victim reported that at around 1:30 a.m. he was entering the Hoyt Street and Fulton Street station when two men approached him from behind, striking him in the head.

After falling to the ground, the men proceeded to kick him about his body before snatching his iPhone 13. EMS transported the man to Cobble Hill Hospital were he was treated for a laceration on the back of his head.
