90-year-old woman dies after being struck by driver on Ocean Parkway

Update (Sept. 29, 10:30 am): The woman, identified by police as 90-year-old Rahel Guindi, has died.

A 90-year-old woman is fighting for her life Tuesday after being struck by a driver on Ocean Parkway in Gravesend.

Cops say the victim was walking with a 61-year-old woman near the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Avenue U at around 12:20 pm when both were struck by a driver in a black Subaru SUV. Both women were transported to Maimonides Medical Center in Borough Park, where authorities say the elder woman is listed in critical condition while the younger woman is stable.

The driver remained on the scene after the incident, and police say an investigation is ongoing.

The driver has racked up 24 parking violations and one speed camera violation since 2013, according to a license plate search.

NYC Crash Mapper shows that the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Avenue U has seen 18 people injured in 16 car crashes since 2016.
