It was a De-Loss-Santos!

Cyclones starter Luis De Los Santos got roughed up on the mound, allowing four hit and five runs in three-and-a-third innings at work, and the Cyclones’ bats were held to just four hits as our boys were shut out by the Spinners.

Most of the Spinners’ damage was done in the fourth. With runners on the corners, Juan Barriento doubled to score both Frankie Rios and Brett Netzer. After Yoan Aybar singled to advance Barriento to third, Santos threw a wild pitch to score Barriento and advance Aybar to third.

Manager Edgardo Alfonzo tried to stop the Spinners’ rally by substituting Santos with Cannon Chadwick, but the Spinners weren’t finished. Nicholos Hamilton singled to score Aybar to make it 5–0.

The Spinners added one more to the lead in the seventh when Garrett Benge doubled to score Rios from second.

The loss drops the Cyclones to an abysmal 12–24 on the season, dead last in the McNamara Division, but well ahead of the almost equally abysmal Hudson Valley Renegades, who split a double header with the Aberdeen Ironbirds, putting Brooklyn four games up in the “Battle for the Basement.”

The Cyclones and Spinners go at it again tonight at 6:35 pm in Lowell.
