Bar Reis goes into the sandwich business

Just what you want: tapas sandwiches!

Reis Goldberg, owner of the nine-year-old Bar Reis on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope, has turned the storefront next door into Reis 100, a self-proclaimed “sandwich factory” that offers 100 varieties of toasted mini-meals — 69 of which cost $3.50.

You can’t help but find a combination to adore: under “Grilled Cheese,” there is a gruyere, bacon and caramelized onion version. Under “Meat,” there’s a shrunken sub of chorizo, manchego and roasted red pepper? And vegetarians can have a kimchee and pickled oyster mushroom sandwich.

It’s a concept so revolutionary — or perhaps evolutionary — that Goldberg (pictured) called in Caputo Bakery in Carroll Gardens to craft custom-made four-and-a-half-inch mini-baguettes.

“The idea is tapas you can hold,” he said.

GO Brooklyn got an advance tasting of a BLT with caramelized onions and a pastrami with a whole grain Dijon mustard. Taken separately, each was a great snack. Together, they were an argument for settling down with a few more and making a night of it.
