Man killed in early morning Bedford–Stuyvesant shooting

A gunman shot and killed a 36-year-old man in Bedford–Stuyvesant early Wednesday morning, the second deadly shooting in the neighborhood this week. 

Police received a 911 call about a shooting incident just after 7:20 a.m, and arrived on the scene near 329 Nostrand Ave. on June 21 to find the bloodied victim in a critical condition.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, sustained a gunshot wound to thee torso, according to police.

Paramedics rushed the man to Kings County Hospital where doctors later pronounced him dead.

Police have not named any suspects in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.

Between New Year’s Day June 18, when the most recent NYPD data is available, there had been ten shooting incidents and three murders in the 79th Precinct, which covers Bedford–Stuyvesant.

Compared to the same period last year, there were 15 reported shooting incidents and five murders.

On Monday, 16-year-old Amiere Hayes was fatally shot in the head just steps from his home in Bedford–Stuyvesant.
