Brooklynites marched through Bergen Beach for the annual “Spirit of Life” Walkathon on April 27.

Approximately 300 people attended the event, honoring the memory of Tommy Meo Jr., a 12-year-old who tragically died in a car accident 19 years ago, according to the boy’s sister.

“It went very well. As always the crowd always amazes us,” said Gina Gampero. “It is a beautiful neighborhood event”

Family, friends, and neighbors gathered at the John Malone Community Center — located at 2302 Bergen Ave. — for the 18th annual walk, benefiting various children’s charitable causes.

“Each year we pick different organizations that help kids directly,” said Gampero. “We always try to find new ways to honor Tommy.”

Each year, locals gather to remember Tommy, with the walk, games, rides, raffles, refreshments, and more, according to Gampero.

“Over the years, it’s turned into a more family fun venue, with kids entertainment, and fun-filled activity,” she said.
