Cyclones 13

Aberdeen 6

Aug. 2 at MCU Park

The Cyclones creamed the Ironbirds Thursday night, after rallying in the first, second and third innings and never looking back.

Aberdeen took a short lived one-run lead in the first, before Brooklyn scored six in the bottom of the card.

Chase Chambers got our boys started when he reached on an error, sending home Carlos Cortes, who had walked. After another walk and a single from Brian Sharp, Nick Meyer singled to knock in Chambers. Walter “Rabbi” Rasquin then smacked a three-run double with the bases loaded to put the Clones up 6–1.

After Brooklyn scored three more in the second, Manny Rodriguez launched a solo shot over the scoreboard in the third, the first homer of his professional career.

“I’m just glad I did it at home, where I come from,” said Rodriguez, a Fort Greene native. Rodriguez told reporters his mother was watching in the stands, and that it was her birthday.

The Clones scored two more in the third on a two-run double from Carlos Cortes.

Cyclones ace Briam Campusano pitched five innings, giving up five runs before Ryan Selmer took over and earned the win.

Aberdeen was plagued with mistakes all night, recording four errors. Starting Pitcher Willie Rios was taken out in the second inning after giving up eight runs.

Our boys hope to do it again tonight at 6:40 pm at MCU Park.
