Friday, Aug. 19

Wellness celebration: Join the Academy of Medical and Public Health Services for their sixth annual Sunset Park Wellness Celebration. Enjoy yoga, tai chi, and Zumba workshops, music and dance performances, arts and crafts activities and refreshments while learning about the health and wellness resources offered by the Academy and other local organizations.

Free. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunset Park at 44th Street and 6th Avenue in Sunset Park.

Saturday, Aug. 20

Battle for Brooklyn in Gowanus: Maybe you’ve participated in a battle reenactment, but have you ever done that…in a canoe? Now’s your chance, join the Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club as they reenact the Battle of Brooklyn in everyone’s favorite canal. Wear blue to support the Revolution, wear red to fight for the Crown.

Double Dutch Tourney: Think you have what it takes to be the Double Dutch champion of the five boroughs? Put your skills to the test this weekend at the first annual citywide competition in Double Dutch and Skelly. Other games include cornhole, musical chairs, and hopscotch.

Free. Noon. Jackie Robinson Park in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Asian American film fest: Join comedians Angel Yau and Kate Moran as they screen and discuss films made by Asian American creators. Also featuring Q+A and musical performances.

Sunday, Aug. 21

GrubRun: Run, eat and recover at Prospect Park’s Smorgasburg. The BK Grub Run turns five this year, and its headed back to Brooklyn’s Backyard. Starting at the Lincoln road entrance of Prospect Park, runners and walkers can take the main loop around to complete 3.35 miles. Those who’d like to shorten the mileage can by crossing through the transverse. And, when all is said and done, runners will make their way into Breeze Hill, where recovery tools, yummy food, refreshing libations and games await.
