Saturday, Nov. 13

Green-Wood trolley tour: Hop aboard the trolley-bus and explore one of the treasures of Kings County. Learn about the history of Green-Wood Cemetery, the battle of Brooklyn, and some of Green-Wood’s most prominent permanent residents.

No One and The Somebodies: Catch punk rock long haulers No One and The Somebodies at Market Hotel in Bushwick with support from Palberta, Old Table, The Drinkers Themselves, and Frida Kill.

Sunday, Nov. 14

Charity Jewelry Workshop: Saskia hosts a jewelry making workshop at its shop in Industry City. The price of each bracelet will be donated to an organization helping women and girls in Afghanistan. 

Nov. 14 from noon to 4 pm in Industry City Building 5, 274 36th St. near Third Avenue in Sunset Park, $10 per bracelet. 

All weekend long 

Brooklyn Folk Festival: Head to St Ann’s Church in Brooklyn Heights for what The New Yorker magazine described as “one of the most vital and spiritually sound folk-music events in the country.” Back in person after going virtual during 2020, the festival features two days of performances from an eclectic mix of folksy artists, including Feral Foster, Jackson Lynch, and the Ukrainian Village Voices.

Ice Skating! Temperatures are dropping and the days are at their shortest, which means it’s time for ice skating! The LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park opened for the season this week, promising good winter fun at Brooklyn’s largest permanent outdoor ice skating rink. The Abe Stark Ice Rink in Coney Island also opens for the season this week, offering indoor skating by the sea. 

LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park, open 9 am-9 pm Friday and Saturday, 9 am-7 pm Sunday through Thursday, timed tickets for 90 minute sessions available here, $12 on weekends, $8 on weekdays. 

Abe Stark Ice Skating Rink, 1902 W. 19th Street in Coney Island near Surf Avenue, 9 am-8 pm daily, $9 admission, $5 skate rental. 

Pumpkin smash! What’s better than smashing some gourds? Head down to Green Meadows Farm to see some pumpkins get obliterated and fed to cute farm animals.
