Bridge suspension: Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges span to close on weeknights for three weeks

The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions during weekday overnight hours beginning on the Monday Oct. 8 and running through Saturday morning on Oct. 27, due to necessary upgrade work on the bridge’s lift mechanism, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

All traffic, including the Q35 bus, will be rerouted to the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge between 11 pm–5 am, the transit authority said in a press release.

There will be signs in place advising motorists of the closure and detour coming off the bridge, according to the transit authority.

There will be no closures on weekends.

The schedule for the closures is:

• Monday, Oct. 8, 11 pm through 5 am, Saturday, Oct. 13

• Monday, Oct. 15, 11 pm through 5 am, Saturday Oct. 20

• Monday, Oct. 22, 11 pm through 5 am, Saturday, Oct. 27.
