The Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association honored three outstanding women at its 101st annual awards dinner on May 15 at the Liberty Warehouse in Red Hook.

The association presented Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul with the Beatrice M. Judge Recognition Award, named for the first female justice of the Kings County Supreme Court.

“She has been a life-long advocate for women and families across the state, fighting for equal rights and opportunities for success,” read the association’s dedication to Hochul. “She continues to advocate on behalf of all New Yorkers, fighting for the rights of all individuals and championing New York’s progressive accomplishments.”

Former Brooklyn Bar Association President Andrea E. Bonina took home the President’s Award, given to those with extraordinary commitment in the field of law. Bonina has served in a plethora of roles in the Kings County legal community, and currently serves as a partner in the law firm of Bonina and Bonina, P.C..

“Andrea’s decision to practice law is an outgrowth of her commitment to helping others,” said the association.

This year’s Sybil Hart Kooper Award, named after the esteemed jurist and longtime Women’s Bar Association member, was bestowed to Holly E. Peck, who serves as Principal Law Clerk to Justice Dawn Jimenez-Salta.

Peck, who previously served as Women’s Bar Association president from 2013-2014, was honored for her work on behalf of the organization.

“As a past President of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association, Holly Peck dedicated her time and energy to making BWBA indispensable to the Brooklyn legal community,” said the organization.

The awards night capped off the tenure of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association President Carrie Anne Cavallo. The association will be lead by Natoya McGhie.
