Cabbie raped woman at knifepoint, cops say

A cab driver raped a Sunset Park woman at knife-point steps from her home on Jan. 7, said police.

The 29-year-old victim hitched a ride from the driver of a red mini-van after she left a bar on Coney Island Avenue near Turner Place in Kensington at 3 am, a police spokesman said.

But the driver stopped the cab a few blocks from the woman’s home in Sunset Park, brandished a knife, and demanded cash. The woman forked over what she had, but the brute entered the back seat and raped the woman before letting her leave the van. The slime ball fled in the van, said the spokesman. The woman told police that the man in his early 20s, a department spokesman said.

Officials couldn’t say whether the woman called for the cab, if she hailed it on the street, or used a ride-hailing app. Nor would they identify the cab company or say whether it is based in the area.

The woman reported the incident later that morning to the 68th Precinct — which serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, and Fort Hamilton. Authorities couldn’t say why the woman didn’t report the incident to her local station house, the 72nd Precinct — which serves Sunset Park and Windsor Terrace, a department spokesman said.

The Brooklyn Special Victims Unit is investigating the incident, said authorities.
