Bad counsel

A phony lawyer duped a 70th Street woman out of $2,000 on July 9, police said.

The man impersonating an attorney called the 91-year-old woman, who lives between 10th and 11th avenues in Dyker Heights, sometime between 9:30 am and 11:30 am and said her grandson had been in an accident and was arrested, officers recounted. The con-man caller got the woman to purchase $2,000 in prepaid debit cards and wire him the money, according to law enforcement officials. The scam is so common that police have warned that anyone demanding cash on a prepaid card over the phone is probably running game.

The fiend entered the home — which sits between Third and Fourth avenues in Bay Ridge — sometime between 6 pm and 6:30 pm that Sunday, officers said.

The victim could not recall whether the door was locked, and there were no signs of forced entry, police said. The stolen goods were valued at $3,155, a report says.

Tool bag

A burglar hauled off $18,077 in tools from a Ridge Boulevard basement sometime between July 3 and July 5, cops said.

Sunday gun day

The pair approached the 19-year-old between 10:30 pm and 10:40 pm, whipped out a silver-and-black pistol, and told the victim to freeze, law enforcement officials related. One of the desperados slipped the cash from the complainant’s pocket and both fled the scene, officers said.

Robber riposted

Police arrested a man who allegedly stole a phone at knife-point on 62nd Street on July 8.

The suspect allegedly cornered a pedestrian on 62nd Street near Eighth Avenue in Sunset Park between 11:40 am and 11:45 am, brandished a blade, and swiped the victim’s phone. Officers from the 68th Precinct put out a call and neighboring 72nd Precinct picked up the suspect at Sixth Avenue and 62nd Street, a report says.
