Buyers will need to drop stacks of cash to live above these stacks.
The developer erecting the luxury condo building whose bottom floors will include the new Brooklyn Heights Library is now hawking units inside the swanky tower, where one-bedroom residences start at more than $1 million.
Builder Hudson Companies on Jan. 8 unveiled a new sales website for its 38-story high-rise dubbed One Clinton, which is rising at the Cadman Plaza West site of the former Heights branch that Brooklyn Public Library sold off back in 2014.
Part of the tower’s bottom three floors will include the newly built library, as well as a new lab run by the Department of Education where local students can perfect their science, technology, engineering, and math skills.
But the rest of the building will cater to residents of its 100-plus pads, which start at $1,088,000 for one-bedrooms, $1,985,000 for two-bedrooms, $3,195,000 for three-bedrooms, and $5,258,000 for four-bedrooms, according to reps for the developer, who said prices for the tower’s five-bedroom units and penthouses will be announced soon.
Manhattan-based firm Marvel Architects — which also dreamt up the Pierhouse and 1 Hotel in Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Saint Ann’s Warehouse in Dumbo — is creating the high-rise itself, with another Manhattan-based company, Studio DB, designing interiors for the condos, which all boast oversized windows, in-unit washers and dryers, white-oak cabinets, and stainless-steel appliances, the reps for Hudson Companies said.
The swanky high-rise — whose entrance is on Clinton Street and separate from that of the library — will also feature a fitness center with a yoga studio, sauna, and hot tub, along with other amenities including a 24-hour attended lobby, children’s center, bicycle storage, bar and outdoor terrace, and outdoor lounge areas with grills and play equipment.
It will also house two retailers: an outpost of java joint the Brooklyn Roasting Company and another spot featuring rotating vendors curated by the operators of beloved local food-and-drink fest Smorgasburg.
The library system raked in $52 million from the sale of the old branch, which some book-lovers rallied against, despite the local community board, civic group, and Borough President Adams ultimately lending their support to the redevelopment project.
The condos and new stacks are slated to open in the summer of 2020, according to reps for the developer, which must also build 114 units of so-called affordable housing as part of the deal.
But bigwigs of Hudson Companies in 2015 announced those units will be built in Clinton Hill, sparking criticism from many locals who said that erecting the below-market-units at a site separate from the expensive condos in Brooklyn Heights is segregationist.
