Police arrested a Borough Park man who allegedly struck and killed a 59-year-old Borough Park woman with his minivan and then fled the scene on Sept. 6.

The man was driving a white minivan on Ninth Avenue toward Green-Wood Cemetery at 12:26 am Sunday when he allegedly hit Marlene Zotti as she crossed the avenue mid-block, police said.

The driver then allegedly turned onto 42nd Street and fled the scene, cops said.

Emergency medical services took the victim to Lutheran Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police reports state.

Zotti was less than a block from her home on 42nd Street between Ninth and 10th avenues, according to police.

The crash left a grizzly scene with blood and groceries mingled beneath a mangled walker the victim was using as she tried to cross, photos show. Pictures of the scene suggest Zotti was crossing at an intersection — rather than mid-block as police stated. Officials are still investigating the crash, a police spokesman said.

At the time of his arrest on Sept. 7, officials charged the man, who lives on Ninth avenue between 50th and 51st streets, with leaving the scene of an accident.
