Cops have released a sketch of an unidentified woman found murdered in Gravesend Bay on July 17 — but the key to identifying the victim might lie in the jeans she was wearing the night she was brutally beaten to death.
The brown-eyed woman, believed to be between 18 and 25 years old, was found jammed inside a collapsible shopping cart at the lip of the bay near the corner of Shore Parkway and Bay 20th Street at 6:51 pm.
An autopsy determined that she had died from severe blows to the head and neck about 24 hours before her body was discovered.
The woman, who was wearing an anklet, had no identification on her and fingerprint and dental record searches turned up nothing, sources said.
Investigators only have one thing to go on — her clothes. The woman was wearing a pair of “Only You” blue jeans, a brand that isn’t commonly sold in Brooklyn. The jeans the woman was wearing were a size 7-8, police said. She was also wearing a black sleeveless summer blouse and a black belt with a silver oval belt buckle.
Detectives are trying to identify local stores who sell the jeans in the hopes of identifying the dead woman through credit card receipts.
