Cops: Man fired into crowd in Clinton Hill, hitting three

A gunman opened fire on a crowd of people last night in Clinton Hill, injuring three, police said.

The trouble started when a fight broke out on Waverly Avenue between Myrtle and Willoughby avenues around 11:15 pm, according to the authorities.

A group of gawkers gathered in the street during the brawl, then a lowlife pulled out a gun and started shooting, cops said. The dispute may have been over a woman, a police source stated.

Three people were hit and taken to Kings County Hospital Center, where they are in stable condition, according to cops. The shooter hit two 17-year-old girls, one in the right side of her chest and the other in the right thigh and left foot, as well as a 26-year-old man, who caught the hot lead in his right knee, cops said. None of those injured live in the neighborhood, law enforcement officials said.

The desperado is thought to be a slim man, about six feet tall, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt at the time of the shooting, authorities said.
