Police shot a guy after he allegedly lunged at an officer with a dagger outside of an Avenue T home in Bergen Beach on May 8.

Someone in the home between E. 68th and E. 69th streets called police for help around 7 pm, because the 27-year-old man was inside the house brandishing the knife and acting irrationally, a police department spokesman said.

Police arrived at 7:11 pm, and man, who police claim was emotionally disturbed, came outside and allegedly tried to attack one of the officers with his dagger, but a second officer shot the him in the torso, the spokesman said. Police could not confirm the number of shots fired, officials said.

Police arrested the man, and paramedics took him to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition, officials said. Emergency responders brought four police officers to Methodist Hospital for observation, according to police.

Police recovered the dagger on the sidewalk near the home and are continuing to investigate, officials said.

Packing: The man had a knife, top, and a dagger, right, on him — as well as a phone.
