PS 15 and the PAVE Academy Charter School in the same Sullivan Street building will be closed through Monday due to fear of flu.

The Health Department said on Tuesday that it recommended the school closures after “an unusually high amount of influenza-like illness” in 20 students on Monday and Tuesday.

It is unclear whether the sick children were at the 377-student public school or the charter school.

In closing both schools housed inside the same building between Van Brunt and Richards streets, the city Department of Education avoided the controversy that arose last month, when PS 231, a school for students with disabilities in the same Borough Park building as PS 180, was closed, yet PS 180 remained open.

“If you’re closing PS 231, close PS 180,” said Laurie Windsor, president of the neighborhood’s Community Education Council.
