A 60-year-old pedestrian was critically injured on Oct. 11 when a driver hit him on Ocean Avenue in Flatbush, cops said.

The man had just stepped out from between two parked cars in the Prospect-Park-bound lane of traffic between Tennis Court and Church Avenue at about 7:46 pm when a 45-year-old motorist behind the wheel of a black Audi-6 sedan collided with him, smashing his head against the windshield and sending him flying into an opposite lane, police at the scene said.

Paramedics drove the pedestrian to Kings County Hospital Center, where he is in critical condition, according to a report. The man failed to check for oncoming traffic, officers stated.

A Highway Patrol sergeant at the scene of the crash said that the driver of the Audi was briefly cuffed when his license plate number appeared in a database as stolen, but it turned out he had lost his front license plate and reported that taken, and had not lost the back one bearing the same number.

No charges have been filed against the drive, but an investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said.

Through August, police had logged 14 crashes this year, resulting three injuries, at the intersection of Church and Ocean avenues. The 70th Precinct, which serves Flatbush, had issued 13,213 moving violations as of Sept. 1, data show.
