Not-so-peaceful getaway
Two crooks assaulted a man during a robbery at a Coyle Street store on March 13.
The baddies were attempting to steal pain medication and other items from the store between Avenues U and V at 1:18 pm, when the victim intervened, police said. One of the perps then punched the man in the face, causing swelling and bruising to the right side of his head, according to cops.
Belt-way robbery
A mugger robbed a 16-year-old boy of his belt at an E. 16th Street park on March 13.
The victim was in the green space near Avenue S shortly after 3 pm when the perp pushed him against the fence and demanded he hand over the belt, according to the police report.
The goon took the belt and fled down Avenue S toward E. 17th Street, cops said.
Closed for business
A looter robbed a store owner of $5,000 and several valuables on Nostrand Avenue on March 16.
The victim had emptied the cash register and took the items with him as he left the shop in his car around 2 am. The victim got out of his car on Nostrand between Avenue P and Quentin Road, when the fletcher approached him wielding a black hunting knife.
The perp demanded the victim lay on the ground as he stole three bags containing the cash, several bottles of perfume, and a number of cellphones, cops said.
Kick in the door
A burglar stole $1,000 and an estimated $11,000 in jewelry from an Avenue R apartment on March 13.
The victim left the apartment near E. 17th Street shortly after 1:30 pm and returned at 7:45 pm to find the lock on the apartment door smashed and the valuables missing from the bedroom, cops said.
Hammer time
Looters kicked in the door of a Coyle Street store and stole cash and a hammer sometime overnight on March 14.
The owner discovered the missing items when he returned to his store near Avenue U at 6 am on March 15, according to cops.
