Cycling senior hit by car in Gravesend

A 73-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by a sports utility vehicle on Aug. 15 while riding his bike in Gravesend.

The senior citizen was hit at 9:50 am on McDonald Avenue at Quentin Road. Police say the driver of the Chevy sports utility vehicle stayed on the scene.

A police spokesman said the elderly cyclist was transported to Lutheran Medical Center in critical condition.

The Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
