Cyclones starter Jose “Funky Cold” Medina pitched valiantly in a losing cause, giving up just two runs on six hits in six innings, but the offense and the relief pitching failed as the Clones were swept by the Scrappers.

The Cyclones took the lead early when Ricardo Cespedes grounded out to score Quinn Brodey and Scott Manea singled to score Jose Miguel Medina to make it 2–0 in the second.

But the Scrappers tied it up two innings later when Simeon Lucas doubled to score Jason “J-Rod” Rodriguez and Jonathan Laureano singled to score Lucas.

Medina threw a scoreless fifth, but first-year manager Edgardo Alfonzo turned to Marcel Renteria who quickly imploded. Making his season debut, the right-hander out of New Mexico state hit Clark Scolamiero with a pitch before allowing a run-scoring double to Ernie Clement. After Jesse Berardi grounded out to advance Clement to third, Oscar Gonzalez singled to score Clement, making 4–2.

The Clones managed just two base runners the rest of the way, and didn’t get any past second.

On a positive note, both Brodey and Manea had two hits and one run each.

The loss puts our boys at a terrible 6–17 on the season, which keeps them dead last in the McNamara Division, two-and-a-half games back of the Hudson Valley Renegades.

The Cyclones hope to get back on track against the State College Spikes tonight at 6:40 pm at MCU Park.
