Tri-City clawed its way to a come-from-behind win on Wednesday, sweeping the Cyclones.

Tied at five in the sixth, Michael Wielansky smacked a run-scoring triple to put Tri-City in front before Juan Pineda knocked in another with a single, giving the upstate team needed insurance.

Brooklyn came within one run after Chandler Avant singled in Wagner “College” Lagrange in the eighth, but our boys couldn’t get any closer.

The Clones had an early lead after Chase Chambers cracked a two-run single in the first inning. Lagrange’s run-scoring groundout knocked in Carlos Cortes, who had singled and moved to third on consecutive singles to make it 3–0 Clones.

Tri–City scored two in the bottom of the card before scoring three in the second to take the lead.

Brooklyn briefly tied it up in the sixth. Cortes scored on an error, before Lagrange sent home Chambers, who had hit a grounds-rule double and moved to third on an error, with a sacrifice fly.

Josh Walker pitched just one-and-two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs before being pulled, his shortest start of the season. Tylor Megill, Yeudy Colon, and Ryley Gilliam took the mound for the Clones after Walker.

The Clones now sit in third place at 34–29 with 12 games left of the regular season, a far cry from three days ago when they were tied for first with Hudson Valley, who has won their last three games and currently dominates the cutthroat McNamara Division at 37–26.

Meanwhile, the hated Staten Island Yankees beat Lowell last night to put them in second place at 33–28. The Cyclones are a half-game behind the Auburn Doubledays in the Wild Card standings, in a virtual tie with the Evil Empire.

Our boys return home to face the Connecticut Tigers tonight at 7 pm.
