Cyclones take Black Bears for a ride

Cyclones 7

West Virgina 1

July 27 in West Virginia

The Cyclones stuffed the Black Bears Friday night thanks to Kyle Wilson’s seven scoreless innings and Manny Rodriguez’s three its and four runs-batted-in.

Wilson scattered four hits and walked just over while striking out eight, a career high for the righty from Ohio.

Brooklyn had a three-run third inning. Rodriguez, a Brooklyn native, smacked a one out triple before Carlos Cortes singled to plate him. After a single from Wagner Lagrange moved Cortes to second, he scored on a base hit from Chase Chambers. With two on, Brian Sharp singled to knock in Lagrange and make it 3–0 Clones.

In the sixth, Rodriguez cracked a double with the bases loaded to drive in three. One out later, Cortes doubled to send Rodriguez home.

Yeudy Colon broke his 14- inning scoreless streak when he gave up West Virginia’s lone run in the ninth.

Our boys hope to do it again tonight in West Virgina at 7:05 pm.
