It’s all treats, no tricks on Brooklyn’s streets this Oct. 31, as the city closes off more than 30 streets across the borough for Halloween festivities.
For the third year, the Department of Transportation is partnering with local organizations for “Trick-or-Streets,” for safer trick-or-treating free from car traffic and other Halloween celebrations.

“‘Trick-or-Streets’ is back and bigger than ever—and we invite all New Yorkers to take part in an event this month!” said DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez, in a statement. “Our streets serve all New Yorkers—and ‘Trick-or-Streets’ is a great example of how we can use them to bring joy and greater safety to so many children.”
We’ve compiled a list of parades, parties, and other celebrations on Trick-or-Streets, plus the rundown of trick-or-treating locations!
Trick-or-Streets Events
In Dumbo, Washington Street will be closed from Front Street to Water Street and Pearl Street will be closed from Anchorage Place to Water Street to make way for Dumboween. The costumed March to the Arch starts on Washington Street at 4 p.m, followed by a Halloween party with live music, trick-or-treating, and costume contests.
Right on cue, Pat Fleming’s Dead Zombie Band has emerged from the crypt for their annual blowout in Clinton Hill. Waverly Avenue will be closed between DeKalb and Willoughby avenues for the neighborhood’s legendary trick-or-treating. At 6 p.m., the band will take the stage to celebrate Halloween with some terrifying tunes!
Pitkin Avenue will be packed with spooky festivities from Mother Gaston Boulevard to Legion Street. The celebration starts at 3 p.m. with stilt walkers, face painting, arts and crafts, live music and snacks, and, of course, trick-or-treating. Costumes are encouraged for all — even your four legged friends!

Congress Street in Cobble Hill will close between Clinton and Henry streets for the annual Cobble Hill Halloween Parade — led, per usual, by the Brass Queens. The parade starts at Cobble Hill Park at 4 p.m. and is followed by some excellent trick-or-treating!
And, of course, there’s the Park Slope Halloween Parade. Trick-or-treating starts in the neighborhood at 3 p.m., and most of the homes and businesses in the area will take part. Then, 7th Avenue will close from 14th Street all the way to 3rd Street for the parade itself, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at the corner of 7th Avenue and 14th Street.
Several other local orgs will host small celebrations too — a parade on Glenwood Road in Midwood, trick-or-treating with local merchants on Fulton Street in Bed-Stuy, and the annual McGoulrick celebration at McGolrick Park in Greenpoint. Check out DOT’s website for a full list of events.
