Drink up! W’burg bar in water tower raises the bar

It’s a tall drink of water — or whiskey!

Williamsburg’s newest nightclub opened high in the sky last weekend, turning a water tower into a chic spot where guests can look out on the Manhattan skyline while sipping on fancy cocktails.

The Water Tower sits above the eight-story Williamsburg Hotel. To create the new watering hole, the owners created floor-to-ceiling windows from steel and glass, and filled its circular floor with velvet couches and colorful murals. It all creates an intimate atmosphere that the hotel’s owner calls the perfect mix of grit and glam to reflect the neighborhood’s history.

“I have very deep roots in this neighborhood — the soccer field that you can see from the Water Tower used to be a warehouse that my grandfather rented for his army surplus business years ago — and I’ve worked hard to build spaces and moments that tell the story of Williamsburg’s past and present,” said Toby Moskovits. “The Water Tower is one of those places, and we hope people feel that energy while they’re enjoying the space and the view.”

The Water Tower opens late — at 10 pm each night, when visitors can take an elevator ride from the lobby to the over-the-rooftop space, where they can indulge in cocktails and so-called “luxe bites.” The cozy cocktail bar transitions into a nightclub as the morning comes, with a rotating list of disc jockeys spinning until 4 am.

The Water Tower at the Williamsburg Hotel (96 Wythe Ave. between N. 10th and N. 11th streets in Williamsburg). Open Wed–Sun, 10 pm to 4 am.
