The VallleyCats welcomed Cyclones first-round pick David Peterson to professional baseball with two consecutive singles by Bryan De La Cruz and Jonathan Arauz before the bonus baby threw a wild pitch to advance them to third and second. He then struck out Michael Papierski, ercording his first career K, and induced a ground-out to Colton Shaver that scored De La Cruz. He then got Adrian Tovalin to line out to center.
Manager Edgardo Alfonzo lived up to his word, substituting Peterson with Jose Carlos “Funky Cold” Medina after the first, but the ValleyCats kept the runs coming. Jake Adams led off the second with a double then Miguelangel Sierra singled to advance him to third. Andy Pineda the singled too score Adams to make it 2–0.
The Cyclones tied it up quickly. Scott Manea hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second to cut the lead in hals, and in the third, Jeremy Wolf led off with a double, Franklin “North or South” Correa singled him to third, and Leon Byrd Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to score Wolf.
The ValleyCats got the lead again a few innings later. Adams hit a solo home run to break the tie in the sixth. In the seventh, De La Cruz hit a double before Arauz singled to score him.
The loss makes the Cyclones an absolutely putrid 14–30 this season, the worst record in the history of the club.
The Cyclones hope to not roll over and die when they face the Lowell Spinners tonight at 6 pm at MCU Park.
