Tied at three in the eighth, the Valley Cats scored a trio of runs off Yeudy Colon to top the Cyclones, knocking them back down to second place in the McNamara Division.
Jaison Vilera gave up three runs over seven innings, striking out three and allowing six hits, before handing it over to Colon who immediately gave up the three fatal runs.
This is the second game Colon has lost for the Cyclones this week, after he walked in the winning run against Hudson Valley on Saturday.
Brooklyn took a one-run lead in the first when Walter “Rabbi” Rasquin flew out to knock in Ross Adolph, who had hit a leadoff double and moved to third on a single.
Tri–City took the lead with a three-run fourth before Brooklyn tied it up in the fifth. Dylan Tice singled to score Manny Rodriguez, who had walked and moved to second on a single. After a wild pitch moved Adolph to third, Carlos Cortes scored him with a sacrifice fly to tie it up.
Hudson Valley beat Connecticut yesterday, putting the Renegades a game ahead of the Clones at 35–26 to Brooklyn’s 34–27. Staten Island beat Lowell, putting them at 32–27 in the pit fight that is the McNamara Division, the toughest division in the bus leagues.
Brooklyn’s Boys of Summer face Tri-City again tonight at 7 pm.
