Down under

In his new book “Underground: A Human History of the Worlds Beneath Our Feet,” author Will Hunt discusses abandoned subway stations, caves, bunkers, and subterranean cities. But what about the C.H.U.D.s? Does he know about the Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers? Ask him this important question tonight, when he talk about his book with “Untapped Cities” founder Michelle Young.

6:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Historical Society [128 Pierrepont St. between Henry and Clinton streets in Brooklyn Heights, www.brooklynhistory.org]. $10.

Cheer up

Two, four, six, eight! Who do we appreciate? Cheerleaders! Artist Kat Chamberlin will emphasize the difficult training and impressive moves that cheerleaders master, with a dance performance by a group of unsmiling teenage girls, titled “C-O-N-T-E-M-P-T.” The performance is part of the exhibit “Serious Play,” for which Chamberlin designed fantastical cheerleading equipment.

7:30 p.m. at Bric House [647 Fulton St. at Rockwell Place in Fort Greene, (718) 683–5600, www.bricartsmedia.org]. Free.

Know-it-all: Mike Lebovitz, one of the four hosts of “Comedians You Should Know,” will bring the show to Littlefield in Gowanus on July 26 for a special Friday night event.
