Big welcome to buffet

Sheepshead Bay residents celebrated the grand opening of the Flaming Grill and Buffet on Nostrand Avenue on Nov. 16.

Hundreds of hungry locals and officers from the 61st Precinct welcomed the new Asian-American buffet restaurant to the nabe by tucking into some good chow.

The ribbon cutting included 50-percent-off meals and a traditional Chinese lion-dance ceremony to bring good fortune to the new business between Avenues Y and Z, according to its manager, who said that the opening was a success.

“It went very well, we had a full house of more than 450 people,” said John Chen, who manages the restaurant with some 25 staff.

The eatery serves a variety of Chinese, Japanese, and American cuisine, and the Flaming Grill’s patrons especially like to flock to its sushi section and its hibachi grill, according to Chen.
