Three cheers and many huzzahs to Rose Huczko, this year’s Volunteer of the Year honoree at Beth Israel Medical Center-Kings Highway Division. Rose is a woman of many talents who gives a tremendous amount of time in service to others. Along with volunteering at the hospital, this cancer survivor teaches Sunday School, serves as a Daisy Girl Scout leader, donates time to a soup kitchen, and pitches in with baby-sitting her grandchildren. Where does she find the energy?
Uber-volunteer Rose, a eucharistic minister at the hospital, visits and prays with patients, and administers them Holy Communion. The busy-bee vollie discovered her singing voice — along with her spiritual one — when the hospital instituted a new music program.
“When we started to sing, the woman in the first bed began to sing, and then the sleeping woman awoke and joined in!” shared Rose, who can now add “bedside crooner” to her list of callings.
Her fans stand in awe.
“Rose is an outstanding example of a dedicated volunteer,” said Rhona Hetsrony, veep of operations at the hospital. “We’re so grateful for her service and commitment to our patients. “

Time for a gold watch
Three cheers to our very own Stephanie Stellaccio for celebrating 30 happy years as display account executive extraordinaire at Courier Life Publications. Standing O pal Stephanie hit the milestone anniversary last week, attributing her long reign to a unique company environment.

Three cheers to Felice Frost of Frostbiz for organizing the Healthy Aging Expo fundraiser at the Council Center for Senior Citizens.
Affinity Health Plan, Guildnet, Northfield Bank, State at Home Solutions, and VillageCare Max treated the seniors to products and services, and Walgreens provided blood pressure screenings.

Hats off to the boys in blue
Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R–Bay Ridge) issues a “Standing O” of her own by presenting Captain Richard DeBlasio of the 68th Police Precinct with a citation for reducing crime in the neighborhood. The assemblywoman praised Brooklyn’s Finest for their hard work and dedication to their community.
“The brave men and women of the 68th are a shining example of the effective service our police officers provide,” she said. “Bay Ridge is a safer place thanks to these dedicated public servants, and a better place to live.”
