Seinfeld superfans and baseball lovers alike flocked to MCU Park Friday for a sponge-worthy night celebrating the show about nothing. Fans participated in on-field events like the “Elaine dance off” — with the prize going to the worst dancer — and a “garbage eating contest” where fans ate out of trash cans in an ode to George Costanza’s unsanitary eating habits.
Steve Hytner — who played Jerry’s comic nemesis Kenny Bania — was even on hand to throw out the first pitch.
“It was one of the most fun experiences,” said Zoe Primeaux, a Park Sloper who won the Elaine dancing contest. “I was among my people! It was fantastic, seeing all the Seinfeld nerds.”
Ticket holders also received a talking Keith Hernandez alarm clock that wakes fans with a shout of “nice game, pretty boy!”
The crowd of 7,758 was the biggest MCU has seen this season, and the Cyclones put on a show worth showing up for, topping the Aberdeen Ironbirds 4–3.
