Two drivers crashed their cars at the intersection of McDonald Avenue and Bay Parkway in Mapleton on June 30, sending one smashing into a graveyard.

The cars crashed shortly after 8:30 pm, when the driver of a minivan driving on McDonald Avenue towards Green-Wood Cemetery allegedly ran a red light, and a driver of an SUV tried to avoid the collision by careening into a fence at Washington Cemetery, according to an eyewitness.

No headstones at the cemetery were damaged, the witness said, and emergency medical personnel transported the driver of the minivan — whom the witness said was briefly pinned inside the vehicle — to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
