Gunpoint jewelry heist in Midwood

Police have released surveillance images and video of two men robbing a Midwood jewelry store at gunpoint on Dec. 3, in the hope that the public might help identify the suspects.

The two men burst into the Coney Island Avenue shop near E. 10th Street at 1:22 pm and stole $250,000 worth of merchandise, according to authorities. Police say one of the suspects held individuals in the store at gunpoint while the other smashed jewelry cases with a hammer and dumped the loot into a sack.

Both men wore dark clothing and they had bandannas covering their faces. The suspect with the gun was wearing white gloves and his sweatshirt had light-colored writing on it.
