High chase: Cops say crack-smoking burglar ran across Clinton Hill roofs

A suspected crack-smoking burglar led cops on a wild chase across several Clinton Avenue roofs on Jan. 16, according to a police report.

Officers received a call at midnight from a witness reporting a man climbing the rear fire escape of a building between Greene and Gates avenues and peering into windows, cops said. Police arrived and found the suspect on the roof, but when they approached he took off, hopping down to a neighboring roof and running across two more, then jumping down into a backyard, according to NYPD officials.

He had passed through two more yards and was trying to enter an apartment when the two pursuing officers caught up with him, the authorities said. They arrested the man and found a necklace and bracelet in his pocket along with a crack pipe, police said.
