High-flying kite festival coming

The Annual Williamsburg Kite Festival returns for its fourth year May 17 from 12-5 p.m. at McCarren Park, Bedford Avenue and North 12th Street (the rain date is June 8).

The public is invited to attend this colorful, daylong festival of kite flying, crafts and games for all ages, which for the past three years has supported arts in education and fostered kinship within the diverse neighborhoods of north Brooklyn.

Live entertainment will include The Hungry March Band, IS 318 Marching Band, Bubble do Beatles, Audra Rox, Lulu and the Amazing Jeske, Greenpoint Shotokan Karate and Metro Dance. There also will be delicious food and goodies on hand at the “neighborhood café,” and a kite hospital for your injured flyer.

The festival is sponsored in part by neighborhood businesses and is produced by the Parents-Teachers Association of PS132, The Conselyea School.
