Hit-and-run driver hits boy crossing street in Bay Ridge

A driver hit a 10-year-old boy who was crossing Fourth and Ovington avenues near his school in Bay Ridge on June 4 and then fled the scene, police said.

The boy told police he was crossing the intersection in the crosswalk in front of PS-IS 30 Mary White Ovington just before 4 pm when a red four-door sedan hit him, causing him to fall to the ground and hurt his knees. The car then fled the scene, police said, and emergency medical personnel brought the boy to a local hospital to treat his minor injuries.

There are no arrests, according to police, and the investigation is ongoing.
