The heartache continues.

Cyclones reliever Stephen Villines blew it for the team, allowing a two-run rally late in the game as our boys got swept by the Renegades.

The game was stuck in a scoreless tie until the Cyclones put one across in the eighth. Jeremy Vazquez led off with a double before Jose Maria popped out to advance him to third. Jeremy Wolf then singled to center field to score Vazquez.

But in the bottom of the inning Bill Pujols singled with one out. After a ground out put the Cyclones on the brink of getting out of it, Oscar Rojas homered to left to put the Renegades up by one.

The Cyclones managed to get runners on first and second with no one out in the ninth, but Franklin Correa’s bunt turned into a force out at third, Vazquez flied out, and Quinn “Chief” Brodey grounded out to end the game.

The Cyclones’ fourth straight loss puts Brooklyn at 15–37, securely in last place in the division, 12-and-a-half games in back of Hudson Valley. The upside: the Cyclones can’t lose today or tomorrow, during the All-Star break. Maybe the team can flip a switch during that time.

The Cyclones hope to end the losing streak on Wednesday when the boys come back home to face the Aberdeen Ironbirds at MCU Park at 7 pm.
