Blinged-out crook
A criminal stole an estimated $45,000 worth of jewelry from a Bay 14th Street home on Jan. 23.
The incident occurred at the home between Bath and Cropsey avenues at some point after 1:30 pm, when the homeowner left, police said, adding that there were no signs of forced entry but that the homeowner said he had lost a second set of keys and that his home alarm system had not been turned on. A thief stole a man’s car from its New Utrecht Avenue parking spot on Jan. 21.
The theft occurred from the spot at 66th Street at some point before 8 am, police said.
Tried but failed
A good-for-nothing tried to break into a W. Sixth Street home on Jan. 22.
Police say the miscreant tried to get in to the home between Avenue O and 65th Street at around noon using a crowbar.
Glass half empty
A lout smashed a man’s head with a glass cup, causing a laceration, on McDonald Avenue on Jan. 22.
The victim told police he was between Avenue P and Quentin Road at 7:40 pm, when the goon asked him if he wanted to talk, prompting a fight with the man. The nogoodnik then grabbed the glass cup and hit the victim in the back of the head twice, police said, adding that emergency medical personnel transported the man to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment.
Window of opportunity
A baddie broke into an Avenue U home and stole $1,000 and jewelry on Jan. 23.
The victim told police he left his home between W. 12th and 86th streets for work at some point after 7:45 am, and returned later to find his cash and jewelry gone.
The criminal broke in through a bedroom window and took two gold bracelets, a watch, two diamond earrings, and about $1,100, according to the police report.
Afternoon terror
A baddie threatened an employee at an Avenue S bodega with a gun and stole $100 on Jan. 23.
The incident occurred at W. Ninth Street just before 2 pm, when the perp approached the woman behind the counter and demanded the cash, police said, adding that he fled on his bike towards Avenue T.
Didn’t get far
Police arrested a pair of men and a boy who they say threatened two boys with guns and stole one’s money, wallet, and phone on 80th Street on Jan. 23.
The boys told police they were near 20th Avenue just after 11:30 pm when the trio approached. One of the men allegedly flashed a black firearm and said, “give me your money and your phone” to one of the boys, before the second pulled out a silver gun and said “give me your wallet” to the same boy, according to police.
The young suspect then rummaged through the second boy’s pockets, and the group then fled down 81st Street towards First Avenue, police said, adding that officers caught up with them at 85th Street and 23rd Avenue, where they found the first boy’s goods.
Big-headed crook
A lout punched a woman in the back of her head and stole a Prosecco bottle and $100 from her on 85th Street on Jan. 24.
The theft occurred at 20th Avenue around 6:20 pm, and the perp fled on foot following the incident.
Best-dressed thief
A crook stole clothing from an 86th Street store on Jan. 25.
The theft occurred from the store at Bay 19th Street just before 7:30 pm, according to the report, which added that an employee tried to block the door to prevent the woman from leaving, but the lout shoved her out of the way and fled on New Utrecht Avenue and then down 85th Street towards Bay 16th Street.
