The simmering feud between food vendors and brick-and-mortar businesses in Bay Ridge boiled over last week when a group of merchants banded together to displace the Middle Eastern Halal Cart, a popular gyro seller, while disseminating anti-vendor literature. Weeks earlier, someone bolted two benches onto the cart’s usual sidewalk spot, forcing the vendor to move down the block.
