And the winner is … Brooklyn!

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards are coming to the Barclays Center on Aug. 25, the television station announced on Monday.

MTV started teasing its online fans by posting pictures on its Instagram page of the show’s iconic Moonman award traveling from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where the awards were held last year, all the way to new arena at Flatbush and Atlantic avenues — with some shots on the Brooklyn Bridge and a Fort Greene mural honoring deceased borough emcee the Notorious B.I.G. in between.

Borough President Markowitz said Brooklyn is the obvious place for the Video Music Awards.

“From hip-hop to hipsters, Jay-Z to MGMT, Brooklyn musicians have a long history of dominating the spotlight on MTV,” said Markowitz. “Brooklyn is a cultural Mecca — the hippest, coolest place for young people across the country, and has played a crucial role in the careers of some of 2013’s biggest bands, like Fun and the Lumineers,”

Past Brooklyn winners of the Moonman statue include Beastie Boys, Bjork, and Matt and Kim.

The cable channel has not yet announced the nominees nor the host of this year’s show.

Comedian Kevin Hart had the honor last year.
