School may be out, but music class is coming back early.

A diverse group of kids and adult students from a Marine Park music school will show their chops at a summer jazz concert at Brooklyn College on Aug. 15. The In Performance Music Workshop boasts a multi-generational group of students, ranging from tweens to adults past the retirement age.

The group reflects the neighborhood, says the school’s director and sax master.

“We have kids from middle school, high school, and college so we have a good cross section of the community,” said Sean King, who started the school in 2006.

For the concert, King and his crew have chosen a set list as diverse as the students. Among the songs will be ’70s tune “Some Skunk Funk” by the Brecker Brothers, “Hurricane Season” by Troy Andrews — a favorite among the group’s trumpet players — and two cartoon melodies: the opening theme to the cartoon “Cowboy Bebop,” and an arrangement of “A-E-I-O-U” from Disney’s “Alice In Wonderland” film.

“Every year we try to expose our students to different styles of music,” said King.

Students say they are looking forward to the show.

“This is a bucket list for me,” said David Coleman, 68, a retired New York City detective who became an alto sax man four years ago. “I always wanted to do it all my life and I didn’t think I’d be doing it. It’s like a whole new life for me.”

Another student says that just being part of the band is a dream come true. Paolo Trani, a 12-year-old trumpet player, is happy to play in the ensemble alongside his brother Sal.

“He was playing trombone before I was playing trumpet,” said Trani, “and I wanted to be in the same band as him, so it was my childhood dream.”
