Say it ain’t so, Joe!

Cyclones reliever Joe Napolitano got hammered, allowing four hits and three runs in his one inning of relief and the Cyclones only had three hits on the night as the Ironbirds handed the boys their fifth straight loss.

The game was tight until the seventh when, with the Ironbirds up 2–1 and runners on first and second, Napolitano fielded a grounder off the bat of Kevin Poesquit but overthrew the first baseman, allowing Tristan Graham to score.

Irvin Ortega then singled to left, scoring both Moesquit and Kevin Ferguson to make the score 5–1.

The Ironbirds increased the lead in the eighth when Seamus Curran hit a solo shot off reliever Kurtis Horne.

The Cyclones have made a habit of scoring runs late in the game this season, but their bats were silenced by the Ironbird relievers this time.

Cyclones starter Trent Johnson was the hard-luck loser, giving up two runs in five innings of work and clean-up hitter Quinn Brodey had one hit and drove one in for Brooklyn.

The loss puts the Clones at a putrid 2–6, good enough for last place in the McNamara Division, one came behind Aberdeen.

The battle for last place continues tonight against the Ironbirds at MCU Park at 7 pm.
