Man dies of ‘multiple’ gunshot wounds in East New York: NYPD

A man was killed in East New York on Thursday night, according to the NYPD.

Around 10 p.m. on Aug. 31, police responded to a 911 call of a man shot inside of a residence at 418 New Jersey Ave., near the corner of Sutter Avenue. 

By the time police arrived at the scene of the crime, the victim was unconscious and unresponsive. Police observed several gunshot wounds to the man’s lower extremities. Emergency responders pronounced the man dead on the scene. 

At this time, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. 

According to crime statistics, the 75th precinct has seen 41 shootings with 47 shooting victims so far this year, a near 27% decrease since 2022. However, the 75th has seen a recent uptick in gun violence this past month, with data showing five shootings with five victims occurring in the past 28 days, a 25% increase from last year.

Additionally, 3 people have been murdered within the 75th precinct this month alone, and 16 so far this year. On Aug. 30, a 15-year-old was arrested in the precinct after allegedly shooting a 24-year-old man in the head and killing him.
