An East Flatbush inferno claimed the life of a 64-year-old man on Tuesday.

Around 60 firefighters rushed to battle the blaze that broke out in the basement of a two-story building on East 96th Street near Lenox Road just before 2 pm, and smoke eaters managed to quench the fire about a half hour later, firefighters said.

First responders later discovered an 64-year-old man clinging to life in ruins of the house fire, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to firefighters.

Paramedics rushed another resident to Brookdale Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the department spokesman.

Authorities have not yet released the deceased man’s identity pending notification of his family, according to police.
